B.A.R. performs with David Allan Coe this Labor Day

This Labor Day Seattle-based Brent Amaker & the Rodeo shares the stage with legendary outlaw performer David Allan Coe as part of his latest North American tour. Coe, primarily known for penning the anthemic "Take This Job And Shove It" made famous by Johnny Paycheck and also for compositions for artists like Tanya Tucker, recorded over 26 albums in his long career. His often controversial lyrics and rowdy stage appearances have served as inspiration for bands like the Rodeo all over the world.

Brent Amaker and the Rodeo are gaining a reputation for their raucous, whiskey-infused shows where a growing number of fans participate by emulating the Rodeo's iconic style. Dressed in black from head to toe, the Rodeo offers up original country music classics a la Johnny Cash but delivered in the spirit of Devo, David Bowie and many others who still believe the live show should be, well a show.

The Rodeo have spent the last two years touring the US and Europe in support of their 2006 self titled release and 2008's "Howdy Do!"(http://www.gravewaxrecords.com). This summer they are hunkered down in the studio making a new record, but they have carved out some time for a mini-West Coast tour which included run-ins with fellow Seattlites The Super Suckers and The Valkyries.

This past year B.A.R. gained national exposure on the Showtime series "Californication" and have made appearances at music festivals around the world including CMJ. You can also find them performing in the indie "slasher" feature film "Punch" (http://www.myspace.com/punchbrandfilms) just released on DVD. Director Jay Cynik honored the Rodeo by directing a video for "I'm the Man Who Writes the Country Hits" which won best video at the Hot Rod Monsters Film Festival, and is currently working with the band to develop an adult graphic comic to be released 2010 in conjunction with the new record.
