I HAVE A DREAM OF DONUTS AND ROSES

I woke up at 3 AM to a vivid dream. As of late our fan base has been getting bigger AND weirder. In my dream, the Rodeo was on tour and had an out of town performance. As usual, I was hanging out with Johnny back stage prior to the show. I could tell from the crowd noise a lot of people were in the room. Johnny prepared my cape for the big entrance and the band began to play "Welcome to the Rodeo". I had the feeling it was gonna be another crazy night.

After the music started, Johnny and I entered the room for the cape ceremony. I looked at the stage and found an assortment of offerings from fans. Trays upon trays of DONUTS and ROSES! Sitting right there on the front of the stage were roses by the dozen and glazed donuts stacked on circular bar trays. People were lining up to put more trays of treats on the stage. The offerings were endless. Weird shit!!

I don't think of myself as a prophet, but I've got a feeling I haven't seen the end of this. Why shouldn't the Rodeo be showered with gifts at the beginning of each show? Why shouldn't we have donuts, roses, and whiskey?

I gotta go back to sleep right now. I'll be looking for donuts and roses at our next show.

Seattle cowboy outfit "Brent Amaker and the Rodeo" rides into Portland for one night only


Seattle band Brent Amaker and the Rodeo have spent the last two years touring the US and Europe in support of their 2006 self titled release and 2008's "Howdy Do!"(http://www.gravewaxrecords.com). This summer they are hunkered down in the studio making a new record, but they have carved out some time for a mini-tour which includes Portland, OR before gearing up and hitting the road again in 2010.

The Rodeo is gaining a reputation for their raucous, whiskey-infused shows where a growing number of fans participate by emulating the Rodeo's distinct style. Dressed in black from head to toe, the Rodeo delivers original country music classics a la Johnny Cash but delivered in the spirit of Devo, David Bowie and many others who still believe the live show should be, well a show.

"We're always excited to play Portland," growls the enigmatic frontman. "We've had our heads buried in tape for a month now and we're ready to cut loose and have some fun. It's great to be sharing the stage with The Punk Group. This is exactly what the Rodeo is all about!"

This past year B.A.R. has gained national exposure on the Showtime series "Californication" and have made apprearances at music festivals around the world including CMJ. You can also find them performing in the indie "slasher" feature film "Punch" (http://www.myspace.com/punchbrandfilms) just released on DVD. Director Jay Cynik is currently working with the band to develop an adult graphic comic to be released 2010 in conjunction with the new record.
